homme à la moustache

This is a man a man with a moustache, 'homme à la moustache'.

I have talked a lot about bearded men but the 'homme à la moustache' is just as important and sometimes more impressionable than a bearded man.....

Ah the, 'homme à la moustache' is a man a little more refined, a little bit more dignified and slightly more noticeable.

The, 'homme à la moustache' is man who is image conscience. He is aware that a moustache will set him apart from all the others, even the ones with beards. A moustache takes time, planning and dedication. Whereas a beard once thought about can be left to grow wild and free it is not the same for the moustache. The moustache brings with it the elegance of the 30's and 40's elegance that the beard can not.

A moustache makes the wearer to the viewer seem as though they have an aura of dignity the feeling that they are trust worthy and loyal.

The first time I ever clasped eyes on a moustache was in 'Seven brides for Seven Brothers' where Howard Keel within the first few minutes of the film transforms himself from a, 'scroungy back woodsman' into a trustworthy man a man who a women wants to marry. That through this subtle facial hair transformation he goes from a scally wag and man that is fit for nothing but living amongst the live stalk to one that is fit to be a husband and a provider!! Yes perhaps this view is a little dated and perhaps a little far fetched I hear you say but there is a little truth in it nonetheless!!!

The, "homme à la moustache' is a man a little different from the bearded man, while one exudes strength and manliness the other exudes dignity and loyalty....

So this is the question I put to you 'choose you this day who you shall serve....'

For me the jury is still out but one thing is clear facial hair tis necessary either way.

the french connection beard

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rI9XhQ1IIWs

Well I may be hot on beards but technology I am not, so forgive me my stupidity and check out the link above to see the french connection advert about Man.

Finally someone other than me has seen the full potential that the impact beards can have. I am tres excitied to see and advert describing a man a real man. And why is he a man a real man well he is one because he has a beard of course. Plain and simple beard equals MAN! It is not a man that makes him a man but the beard that qualifies him to become one. Allowing him to cross over from boyhood into manhood. 'This is a man' a man with a 'beard'. Perhaps there are some other things in between but the jist of it is he is a man because he has a beard.

Would we have believed in his characteristic's had he not had a beard, NO of course not this advert was dependant on the man having a beard and was cleverly cast. Women want to to be with him and men just want to be him. The 'accessory' of the beard allows all parties viewing the advert to connect with it. Girls want their 'man' to be like him, want them to have his confidence and all because the beard makes them, allows them to see these qualities. This is becuase the beard tells us he has all these things. Men see him as a cool, care free, a real man who does what he wants says what he wants and is exactly who he wants to be. This is because the beard has been cleverly cast to be a little over grown and a little 'free sprited' something that all men want to be.

All in all I would say this advert is a huge bearded success. The sooner the other brands catch on the better it will be for all of us. Beard mania coming our way. Fingers crossed and here's hoping,'beards make the world go around the world go around'.

A Beard for all weather........

It might be cold outside and we may even be getting a little fed up of the snow but there is one thing to be thankful for and that is that this cold weather is prolonging the life of la beard!!! So three cheers for the snow.

Now I know that it is cold and horrible and causes as to deliberate even leaving the house as the thought of baring that coldness is oh too much, however if you do, you beard lovers, you'll be able to catch a glimps of those winter beards that are here thanks to la snow!

Thanks to the snow these snow days have become days I can look forward to and bare the short jorney to work, for I know that along my way I will pass a few bearded men also braving the winter weather. Their beards may only be there for practical reasons these days, to save their baby faces from the cold weather, but they are there nonetheless. So no point in letting those beards go to waste and unspotted.

So I beg of you brave the cold, go out in in for your bound to come across if not one perhaps two or three lovely beards on display just waiting there for us beard loving guys and gals to see, 'lions, tigers and beards oh my!.'

So dont think about the snow and the cold instead put your thoughts to happier things think of all the mens growing the beards to brave the cold and then brave the cold to see the beards, you catch my drift!!!

In these times of coldness and snow we all need a happy place to think of so let yours be that there is a winter beard out there somewhere waiting for you...

Bearded Men on Parade

Ok so went to the cinema this week to see a film and as I was climbing the stairs to see my chosen film I stopped dead in my tracks. I could not take my eyes of the handsome bearded man who captured my whole attention. Granted he was a cardboard cut out but captivating nonetheless! I was so distracted by him I failed to notice how obvious I was being and it was not until I heard laughter and my friend in the distance asking me what I was doing that I came out of my trance. The theatre manager was laughing at me but I did not care this bearded beauty was without a doubt drop dead beardtastic!!!!

So this later led me to think that perhaps I should start a beard of the month slot where I could recommend bearded beauty's to other beard lovers so they to can appreciate these beautiful bearded men on parade!!!!!!

So the bearded beauty who captivated my attention on this particular occasion was one other than Jake Gyllenhall in his new film role, 'Prince of Persia' Lets just say beard mania has reached hollywood and when hollywood get there hands on something they do it right and boy have they done it right!

I defy any one who says that this man has not reached manliness and hotness with this new beard. I am not disputing that he was not a good looking man before but now he commands my attention.

So to hollywood I say, 'I solute you.'

To beard readers send me any potential 'Beard of the Month' candidates you might have to see if they can make it on to the Bearded wall of fame!

ooooohhhhhhhh Mr Gyllenhaal your a beard lovers dream and don't go changing a thing!
'we love you just the way you are'

So if you did not take part in it this year I suggest that you prepare yourself for nest year movember time and start to think about that fantastically tash you could be sporting in november time of next year. A Beard too far!

Ok so I heart beards, as we all know. Obviously this is no secrete, hence the blog site. However sometimes men can take it, 'A Beard Too Far'. Now this is not to say I don't want all you lovely beard wearing men to get rid of the facial hair, but you have to give it all the love and attention that you would give the hair on your head.

So when has it gone too far. When we beard loving ladies go from, 'ooohhh he's lovely' to 'yuck what is that on his face!'.When you get this latter reaction you know the beard needs some TLC. If your not pulling in the ladies with your facial hair charm chances are you are doing something wrong with it an you have gone more father christmas/homeless man than hottie with the beard.

The power of the beard should be able to help women gravitate towards you rather than push them away. The power of the beard can put a man who on a scale of 1-10 might normally sit at a 4 but grow a beard and trim it right he might push himself up to a 8/9 it can be done!!!

When I was around 12 I met a boy a nice boy. However at 12 I was in no way interested in boy's. They were just the horrible creatures at school who picked on my curly locks and taunted me. I wanted little if nothing to do with them. However this boy I would see from time to time as I got older and older. He seemed like he was interested in me and personality wise we got along swimmingly but for me visually it just did not work and I never saw him as being more than 'just a friend'. However around the age of 23/24 he grew a beard. The first time I saw him with a beard I was thinking to myself, 'where have you been all my life.' Where indeed. He had been right under my nose for the last 11 years and all because of a beard I know found myself drawn to him. The beard had made the boy a man in my eyes. Sadly I was too late for this beard and he went to a much better home, yet this does show that I beard worn right will work in a man's favour.

Example one look at Brad Pitt's beard/goat/disaster. I never thought anything could make such a fine looking man look unattractive. He has managed to knock him self down the 1-10 scale instead of pushing him up it!!!!

So this is just a word of warning to all you who think you can just jump on the bearded band wagon. Thought, love, care and attention has to go in to the creation of a beard. You have to nurture it and treat it like you would anything else that your proud of. If you do you will reap the rewards. If you don't you'll just end up wondering were it all went wrong. So 'Beard Prepared' that's my advice to you.

A beard, Sperates the boys from the men.

alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5402971648552270498" />

Ok so I have been a little bit side tracked and not able to write a beard post but that does not mean that the beard was not at the fore front of my mind because it has been very much so.

So I am going to share with you my first beard/tash experience. These are the moments in my life when I first new that I Alexis Louise Giboin loved Facial hair.

As a child I used to go to my gradparents on a Friday night to stay over. This consisted of my sister and I watching a musical that my gangan, aka grandad, had taped. As we started this weekly ritual many a strange crush for a girl of the 80's developed. Amongst my earliest was Frank Sinatra in 'On The Town' and a man, who due to my Dallas obsession, I still have the hots for these days is one Mr Howard Keel.

So upon watching Seven Brides For Seven Brothers I fell for the charms, or should I say manly charms, of Howard keels character. When you first see him he is sporting a rather full beard. Whether with just a tash or a full beard his facial hair makes me feel like I am looking at a real man, a man that could protect and look after you.

As a child I remember thinking that is what a real man looks like. Later on in the film he shaves and is left with a rather 'spiffing' tash. This equally qualified him in my mind to be the strong man figure he up held in the film. It was not until my obsession with Dallas that I remembered my love of Howard Keel and how I regarded him to be what a real man should look like.

This theory is further supported by my love for 'Aragon' in The Lord Of The Rings.

Once again one is lead to believe that this is a man that can do anything, a man that you can put your trust in, a man that will deliver. You gain this belief and trust in him because of his facial hair. As only a real man could look and act as he does. Whether you choose to accept this or not it is a fact. Do you think that if Orlando Blooms character , 'Legolas' looks wise was Aragon that the audience would believe that this clean shaven 'girlie' boy could deliver and save man!!?? I think not. It is easy to believe that Aragon can achieve all this as one believes that it is dealing with a man.

So as you can see a beard separates, 'The Men From The Boys'.

And for all of you who have not listened to the beard song please, please do.....if this does not sway you to the love of beards I fear all is lost for you..
